Atlanta - March 2, 2009 - Venture Atlanta 2009, the premier investor showcase for emerging technology companies in Georgia, will host its second annual investor conference October 13 and 14, 2009 at the W Atlanta Midtown in Atlanta, Georgia. Last year's inaugural event was the largest venture capital conference in the state's history, linking top-tier venture capitalists, investment bankers, entrepreneurs, service providers and executives with Georgia's most innovative technology companies.
The conference founders, The Atlanta CEO Council, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, and the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), look forward to another successful event that brings investment dollars to emerging Georgia companies. Last year 21 companies presented their business plans to investors from more than 70 venture capital firms. This year's agenda will feature 20 of Georgia's most innovative emerging technology companies, high-profile speakers, and networking opportunities.
"While it's definitely a challenging environment for venture capitalists and entrepreneurs alike, there is still money out there for promising business models and innovative technologies," said Mark Johnson, a partner at Total Technology Ventures and this year's conference chair. "Last year's venture conference was a long overdue showcase of what our state has to offer. We are excited to continue the tradition and are looking forward to a successful Venture Atlanta in 2009."
Regional economic development continues to be one of the Metro Atlanta Chamber's key initiatives, and Chamber leaders hope that the conference will help to stimulate and sustain economic growth in the region. "Venture Atlanta offers a specialized venue for Georgia-based start-ups to present their technologies to venture capitalists and investors from across the country," said Sam A. Williams, president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. "Our region is among the fastest growing in the nation when it comes to technology and innovation. This event will highlight that growth and help to attract investment that will keep our economy strong."
Many of last year's sponsors including Morris, Manning and Martin and Noro-Moseley Partners have already signed on to support the second annual event. For sponsorship opportunities, please visit www.ventureatlanta.org.
